Hand-woven from real leather over a solid wood frame — a slow, physical craft that gives the seat its strength and its texture at the same time. Made for daily use, not display.
This chair is built the way seating was built before machines did the weaving: strips of leather cut, stretched, and interlaced by hand across a wooden frame, one row at a time. The weave is what holds your weight — not a foam pad, not a cushion glued on top. That's why it takes the shape of use over time rather than breaking down.
The frame is solid wood, built to carry the tension the woven leather puts on it. The leather itself develops a patina with use — it darkens slightly, softens slightly, and starts to look like something that's been lived with rather than something new.
We source from artisans in Kathmandu who still weave by hand rather than machine-press the strapping. Each chair is finished and inspected before it reaches the showroom. Available in Black, Brown, and a mixed Black + Brown weave — no two chairs' weave pattern will be perfectly identical, since it's tied by hand, not stamped.
Use it daily — at a desk, by an entrance, wherever a solid chair with some character is wanted.
Element: Wood & Leather (solid wood frame, hand-woven leather strapping — earth and craft together) Origin: Woven in Kathmandu by local artisans.
Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth — avoid soaking the leather. Keep out of direct sun for long periods; leather can dry and crack if overexposed. If the leather feels dry, work in a small amount of leather conditioner with a soft cloth. Keep away from standing water and high humidity. Tighten and re-check the weave occasionally with regular heavy use.
