Cowrie Fringe Wall Medallion

The same cowrie-and-seed-bead construction as the medallion series — but this one grows. Radiating from the outer edge of the woven disc is a full halo of dried raffia grass, cut long and dense, spreading outward like sunrays from a tribal sun. The fringe doubles the diameter of the piece visually and transforms it from wall art into a room event.

The inner disc carries a bold geometric pattern: a cross-wheel design in brown seed beads and white, with cowrie shell clusters placed at each junction of the wheel and a tight cowrie rosette at the centre. The geometry is strong and deliberate — the kind of pattern that reads as both ancient and contemporary, that would sit as comfortably in a gallery as in a bedroom. Against the organic chaos of the raffia fringe, the precision of the inner pattern becomes more powerful, not less.
