Questions about Home & altar
Are your wooden bowls and boards food-safe?
Yes. Our wooden bowls, chopping boards, serving platters, salad servers and salt and honey pots are hand-carved from seasoned hardwood and finished with a food-safe, non-toxic organic coating. Most are made in Kathmandu by Shaman Kathmandu. They are meant for serving and everyday use, but never for the dishwasher or microwave. Our natural-grain platter set is intended for dry or light foods. Browse home and altar.
How do I wash wooden bowls and chopping boards?
Hand wash wooden bowls and boards with cool water and a mild natural soap, then wipe them dry immediately. Never soak or submerge them, and never put them in a dishwasher or microwave. Occasionally treat the wood with food-grade mineral oil or beeswax to keep the grain alive. Coasters only need a wipe with a damp cloth, dried straight away.
