A piece of dark, porous driftwood — irregular in shape, full of natural cavities and textures that no maker could design — with brass-finished bee figurines placed across its surface. Each bee is individually detailed: segmented body, carved wing veins, fine wire antennae. They land on the wood at different angles, some flat against the surface, some tilted as if mid-arrival. The effect is a still moment from the natural world, frozen and placed on a table.
The driftwood base is the foundation that makes everything else work. It is not shaped or smoothed or finished — it is used as found, its surface already carrying decades of weathering, water, and organic process. The cavities in the surface of the wood create depth and shadow that change as the light moves through the day. No two pieces are identical. The wood you receive will be the same species and general character as photographed, but its exact form is its own.
The Small variant carries three bee figures — one positioned on top, two along the sides — intimate in scale, suitable for a desk, a side table, or a narrow shelf. The Large variant spreads six bees across a wider, more dramatic driftwood formation — a piece that anchors a console, a coffee table, or the centre of a shelf arrangement with enough presence to need nothing beside it.
Bees carry one of the richest bodies of symbolism in the natural world. In almost every culture that has lived alongside them — which is every culture — bees represent community, industry, the transformation of raw nature into something sweet. In ancient Egypt they were the tears of the sun god Ra. In Celtic tradition they were messengers between worlds. In Shaman's framework this piece carries three elements simultaneously: Wood (the driftwood — organic life, growth, the record of a living thing), Earth (the root formation — stability, the ground, the deep material), and Metal (the brass bees — resonance, precision, the energy of craft applied to nature). A rare triple-element piece, and one of the most materially complex objects in the Shaman home range.
Element: Wood · Earth · Metal
Energy: Community · Vitality · Natural Abundance
Origin: Natural driftwood + brass-finished bee figures — handcrafted, curated in Kathmandu
Care: Keep away from moisture — driftwood can absorb water and develop mould if left in humid conditions. Dust with a soft brush, working into the natural cavities gently. Handle the bee figures with care — the wire antennae and wing edges are the most delicate points. Do not place in direct sunlight for extended periods as the brass finish can fade.
